We acknowledge the high importance of selecting a sample that is truly representative (and in some instances as best representative as possible) of the population so that the inferences derived from that sample can be generalized back to the population of interest.

Improper and biased sampling is the primary reason for often divergent and erroneous inferences reported.  Therefore, identifying the correct sampling frame and sampling technique are prioritized, further supported by appropriate power for detection of effect.
